Interesting talk on this at Goldsmith’s last night - he’s just written a book on Hip-Hop Japan which I have yet to read. One key point was about the ‘soul’ (or damashii in Japanese) of manga artists who still lovingly draw each frame by hand in pencil before digitizing it, even though the frames in between are outsourced to artistic sweatshops in China or the Philippines....

I am not endorsed by the above body btw, just in touch with them. Most SW people are Computer Science PHDs.
